Mission is a district municipality within the Province of British Columbia. With a population of about 35,000 Mission is the 23rd biggest municipality in British Columbia.
The city of Mission sits in between the Coast Mountains and the Fraser River north of Abbotsford. The name "Mission" originates from the Pacific Northwest's very first and biggest mission. Established during the year 1861, the Roman Catholic St. Mary's Indian Mission is the city's namesake.
